Final Results

Lourdes concluded its 2023 season on Friday morning, dropping a 4-0 match to Lawrence Tech in the quarterfinals of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament at Shadow Valley Tennis Club.
 
Lawrence Tech (7-13), the tournament's fourth seed, opened the match winning the doubles point with victories at the first and third spots.  Vanessa Skouroukos (Toledo, Ohio/Waite H.S.) and Olivia Schoppa (Gutersloh, Germany/Stadtisches Gymnasium Gutersloh) dropped a 6-2 match at third singles for the Gray Wolves while Mallory Schardt (Temperance, Mich./Bedford H.S.) and Cleo Moore (Atlanta, Ga./Riverwood International H.S.) fell 6-3 at the top spot.  Bella Chela (Lusaka, Zambia/Pretoria H.S. for Girls) and Laura Ortiz (Bogota, Columbia/Gimnasio Los Pinos) led their second doubles match 5-3 when the match was decided.
 
In singles play, Moore dropped a 6-3, 6-1 match at the top of the lineup for Lourdes, the fifth seed, while Schardt fell 6-3, 6-0 at the second spot.  Skouroukos lost her sixth singles match 6-2, 6-0.  Chela trailed 6-3, 2-1 in the second set at third singles when the overall match was decided while Schoppa was behind at fourth singles 6-2, 4-1 when her contest was halted.  Ortiz trailed 6-3, 3-2 in her fifth singles contest. 
 
Lourdes finished the season 7-9 overall, setting a new school record for victories in a season.
