Lourdes Heads to Point Park Before Returning Home to Face Olivet

Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes concludes its three-match road trip on Wednesday afternoon with a trip to Pennsylvania to battle Point Park.  The Gray Wolves then return home to close out the non-conference slate with a pair of contests, beginning on Saturday morning when Olivet visits Wildcat Stadium.

Head Coach Jackie Phillips: In her ninth season on the Lourdes bench, Jackie Phillips has a 55-71-17 (.444) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as overall as a head coach.  She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes is 5-0 all-time against Point Park in a series that dates back to Aug. 31, 2018.  The Gray Wolves downed the Pioneers 1-0 last season, Lourdes fourth shutout in the series.  Lourdes is 2-0 all-time against Point Park in Pennsylvania.  The Gray Wolves will be meeting Olivet on the pitch for the first time Saturday.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Karlie Heilman headed home what proved to be the match-winner in the 21st minute last Wednesday as the Gray Wolves defeated Holy Cross (Ind.) 3-0 on the road.  Kayla Dillinger and Keira Boskovich added second half tallies for Lourdes while Emmy Rodger made seven saves in goal to earn the shutout.

Scouting Point Park: The Pioneers enter the match following a 3-2 setback at home against Mount Vernon Nazarene on Saturday afternoon.  Holly Pascoe leads the Point Park offense with two goals and two assists for six total points while Anne Barbosa and Lorena Montanes each have a goal and a helper.  In goal, Maggie Pappas sports a 1.60 goals against average and a .733 save percentage in 225 minutes of action while Ella Serlin has posted a 1.50 GAA and a .500 save park.

Scouting Olivet: The Comets enter the week in search of their first victory of the season after falling 4-0 at Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Sunday afternoon.  Olivet travels to Michigan-Dearborn on Wednesday before visiting Lourdes.  The Comets have yet to score this season, with Jennie Underwood leading the team with four shot attempts, three of which have been on goal.  In net, Sarah Willard has played a majority of the minutes, sporting a 2.00 goals against average and an .839 save percentage.

Boskovich Leading the Offense: Keira Boskovich scored her first goal of the season at Holy Cross (Ind.) and assisted on another, giving her a team-leading five points this year.  The sophomore has been involved in four of the Gray Wolves' seven goals this season.

Wittbrodt Earns First Collegiate Point: Chloe Wittbrodt handed out her first collegiate assist on the final goal of the match last Wednesday at Holy Cross (Ind.), marking the first time she has registered a point during her rookie season.

Scoring Early and Often: Lourdes has scored five of its seven goals in the first half of play this season.  Six different players have found the back of the net through three games, with eight players registering at least one point.

Moving Up the Scoring List: Kayla Dillinger continues to move up the scoring list after her goal at Holy Cross (Ind.).  The goal was Dillinger's seventh of her career, moving her into a tie for eighth place on Lourdes' all-time list with Katie Varney (2019-2021) and Erin Caldwell (2018-2022).  Dillinger's 17 career points also move her into a tie with Jada Foster (2015-2016) for eighth place on that list. Dillinger has three career match-winning goals as well, tying her with Clare Ciarlino (2016-2017) for seventh in program history.  

A Record Holder in Goal: Emmy Rodger is programs' the all-time leader with a 0.82 goals against and an .842 save percentage.  She increased her school mark to 15 shutouts against Holy Cross (Ind.) and also ranks third in program history with 149 total saves.

Pencil Her in the Lineup: Gianna Salatino has started every match for the Gray Wolves this season, giving her 48 career starts wearing the terra cotta and black.  She has moved into seventh place alone on the career list and Salatino now needs just three more starting assignments to match Chloe Shaffer (2019-2022) for sixth on the all-time list.  Salatino has appeared in 56 career matches, two shy of moving into the top-10 all-time.

Sharing the Wealth: Four different Gray Wolves have found the back of the net already this season.  Kayla Dillinger registered a match-winner while Taylir Lynam, Laura Rincon, and Sydney Woodring all have scored their first goals as Gray Wolves.  Kayden Firsdon and Keira Boskovich are tied for the points lead as well with two each having handed out a pair of assists.

Captains Named: Lourdes has a pair of co-captains for the 2023 season.  Simona Iacabacci and Gianna Salatino in the leadership position.  Iacabacci is a first time team captain while Salatino is serving in the role for the second consecutive season.

Gray Wolves Tabbed Sixth in WHAC Preseason Poll: Lourdes was selected to finish in sixth place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches.  The Gray Wolves were picked just behind fifth place Northwestern Ohio.  Aquinas was chosen to win the league crown.

This and That: The Gray Wolves are outscoring opponents 7-2 this season despite being outshot 33-30, including 19-16 on goal ... Kayla Dillinger leads the team with nine shot attempts, four of which have been on goal ... Karlie Heilman's match-winning goal against Holy Cross (Ind.) was the second of her career.
