Upcoming in Gray Wolves Soccer: Lourdes looks to rebound from its first setback of the season on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves continue their three-match road trip with a trip to Holy Cross (Ind.) for the team's second straight match in the Hoosier State.
Head Coach Jackie Phillips: In her ninth season on the Lourdes bench,
Jackie Phillips has a 54-71-17 (.440) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves as well as overall as a head coach. Â She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Lourdes is 1-0-2 all-time against Holy Cross (Ind.) in a series that began Feb. 8, 2021. Â The two sides have tied their last two meetings following a scoreless draw at Wildcat Stadium last season. Â In Lourdes lone appearance in Notre Dame, Ind, the two sides played to a 1-1 tie during the 2021 campaign.
Wrapping Up Last Week: Playing its first road match of the 2023 season, Lourdes saw Bethel (Ind.) find the back of the net just 6:28 into the match before adding an insurance tally with 32:15 to play in the contest as the Pilots downed the Gray Wolves 2-0 in Mishawaka, Ind. on Saturday (Sept. 2). Â
Emmy Rodger made five saves in goal for the Gray Wolves as Lourdes was outshot by Bethel 13-4 for the match.
Scouting Holy Cross (Ind.): The Saints have been idle for a full week following a 2-1 setback on the road at Goshen last Wednesday (Aug. 30). Â Olivia Shaw leads Holy Cross with eight points, scoring three goals and two assists this season, all marks that are tops on the team. Â Miriam Iturriaga-Sanchez has added a pair of goals for the Saints. Â In goal, Payton Ladson has played a majority of the minutes, sporting a 2.67 goals against average and a .636 save percentage while Taylor Primack recorded three saves in a shutout in her lone appearance in 2023.
Facing the CCAC: After defeating Roosevelt 4-0 in its season opener this year, Lourdes improved to 3-0-4 all-time against current members of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Â The Gray Wolves are now 1-0-1 against Roosevelt, 1-0 against Judson and played Saint Xavier to a draw in addition to the 1-0-2 mark versus Holy Cross (Ind.). Â
Looking to Avoid Back-to-Back Setbacks: Lourdes will look for a result on Wednesday at Holy Cross (Ind.), in hopes of avoiding back-to-back losses for the first time since March 17-25, 2021 when the Gray Wolves dropped three straight matches during the spring portion of the 2020 season.
Captains Named: Lourdes has a pair of co-captains for the 2023 season. Â Simona Iacabacci and
Gianna Salatino in the leadership position. Â Iacabacci is a first time team captain while Salatino is serving in the role for the second consecutive season.
Moving Up the Scoring List: Kayla Dillinger entered the season as the Gray Wolves top returning scorer and added to that total in the opener. Â She scored the match-winning goal against Roosevelt, giving her three for her career, tying her with Clare Ciarlino (2016-2017) for seventh in program history. Â The goal was Dillinger's sixth of her career, moving her into 10th place alone on Lourdes' all-time list. Â Dillinger's 15 career points also move her into 10th place on that list.
A Record Holder in Goal: Emmy Rodger is programs' the all-time leader with a 0.84 goals against, an .835 save percentage, and 14 shutouts. Â She also ranks third in program history with 142 total saves.
Pencil Her in the Lineup: Gianna Salatino has started both matches for the Gray Wolves this season, giving her 47 career starts wearing the terra cotta and black. Â She has moved into seventh place alone on the career list, passing Kerstyn Williams (2017-2021) who started 46 contests at Lourdes. Â Salatino now needs just four more starting assignments to match
Chloe Shaffer (2019-2022) for sixth on the all-time list. Â Salatino has appeared in 55 career matches, three shy of moving into the top-10 all-time.

Sydney Woodring all have scored their first goals as Gray Wolves. Â
Kayden Firsdon and
Keira Boskovich are tied for the points lead as well with two each having handed out a pair of assists.
Dillinger Leads Team in Shot Attempts: Kayla Dillinger has a team-high five shot attempts thus far this season. Â She is the lone Gray Wolves with two attempts that have been on goal.
Gray Wolves Tabbed Sixth in WHAC Preseason Poll: Lourdes was selected to finish in sixth place in the WHAC this season in the preseason poll conducted of the league's head coaches. Â The Gray Wolves were picked just behind fifth place Northwestern Ohio. Â Aquinas was chosen to win the league crown.
This and That: The Gray Wolves are 22-41-8 all-time in true road matches ... the Gray Wolves have been outshot this season 22-17, including a 12-8 mark on net ... all four goals this season came in the first half of the season opener ... Lourdes closes out its road trip next Wednesday (Sept. 13) at Point Park.
