BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University women's tennis team competed in the first and only fall event of the 2024-25 season, as the Gray Wolves fell to the host Falcons of NCAA DI Bowling Green State University Saturday, Oct. 26.
"It was exciting to see the ladies back in action, as well as having the opportunity to see a D1 ball," said head coach Epifani Jones. "Even though we were over-matched, the players executed their instructions well, and it's a good look going into the Spring season," coach finished.
In singles play, Mallory Schardt competed in the #1 spot but lost 6-0, 6-0. Olivia Schoppa, playing in the #2 position, was defeated 6-1, 6-0. Laura Ortiz, in the #3 spot, lost 6-0, 6-1. Luciana Merediz faced a tough match at #4 singles, finishing 6-0, 6-0. Both Vanessa Skouroukos at #5 and Winter Richburg at #6 singles also lost, each with a score of 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles action, all three teams fell 6-0: Mallory Schardt and Olivia Schoppa at #1 doubles, Laura Ortiz and Luciana Mercedes at #2 doubles, and Vanessa Skouroukos and Winter Richburg at #3 doubles.
