PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University women's volleyball team competed in the Trolls Invite over the weekend, hosted by Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Ill., Oct. 4-5. The team suffered three setbacks in the two-day event, falling to Stephens College in three straight sets Friday, before dropping another three-setter, this time to William Woods University Saturday morning. The Gray Wolves finished the weekend stretching a fourth set against the host Trolls, who took a 3-1 win over Lourdes to close out the non-conference tournament. Â

MATCH 1Â
Day one of the Trolls Invite saw the Gray Wolves fall in three straight sets to the Stars of Stephen's College with 25-17, 25-12, and 25-16 set scores.
Key contributors in the match included juniorÂ
Katey Stakolich, who posted a team-leading nine kills to go along with seven assists and two blocks.Â
Leading in digs was redshirt juniorÂ
Mia Lopez who collected 13 for fourth career double-digit digs performance.Â

MATCH 2Â
Saturday's first match consisted of the Gray Wolves falling to the Owls of William Woods University, who took the match in three straight sets. The first set was a 25-19 win for the Owls, with a 25-15 second set and 25-17 third set following.  Â
This time, leading the pack was Lopez, who chalked up a team-leading seven kills. Junior
Lindsey Pumford contributed 8.0 points with six kills and a team-best four block assists.Â
Freshman
Alaina Dujardin assisted on 19 kills, while junior
Jolie Sobb led with 11 digs. Dujardin's 19 helpers mark as the rookies career high topping her previous best of eight.Â
MATCH 3Â
The final match saw the Gray Wolves take a set off the host Trolls, but ultimately fell 3-1 to finish the tournament on Saturday evening. The Gray Wolves opened with promise, stomping the Trolls 25-9 in the first set. The second saw the host team begin the comeback effort as the Trolls won the second stanza 25-18, before winning the third 25-19, and lastly, the final set of the night, 25-18 for the four-set home victory.Â
Producing a team-leading 15 kills was Sobb, while Stakolich followed behind with nine. Freshman
Rania Pavlidi did most of the assisting, earning a team-leading 19, while Dujardin posted her second consecutive double-digit assist performance with 15.Â
Madison Smith showed an impressive serving day, producing three service aces in the loss, while
Arleena Willer led defensively with 18 digs.Â

The Gray Wolves will return to action Wednesday, Oct. 9, as the team sets to host the Saints of Siena Height University in a 7pm Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center. Â
