Box Score SYLVANIA, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University women's soccer team clinched a 1-0 victory over No. 5 seed Cornerstone University at home, propelled by
Makayla Dillinger's game-winning goal. Advancing to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals as the No. 4 seed, Lourdes maintained their early lead with a strong defensive effort throughout the match.
The Gray Wolves struck early in the first half when Dillinger connected on a pass from junior Zoey Trout, scoring less than 10 minutes into the match. Dillinger's quick goal gave Lourdes a crucial advantage that they held firmly for the rest of the game.
Senior goalkeeper Emmy Roger anchored the Lourdes defense, and the Gray Wolves limited Cornerstone's offensive opportunities, keeping the Golden Eagles from recording any shots on frame across the full 90 minutes.
Match Notes:
- Head Coach Jackie Phillip (72-81-20) finished the regular-season 12-3-1, the best in program history. Prior to the 2024 campaign, the 2022 team held the record for most single-season wins with their nine. That squad finished the regular-season 9-5-4.
- Additionally, the team's 9-3 conference record marks a program-record, topping the six conference wins from the 2022 campaign. In that season, the Gray Wolves finished 6-4-1 in the WHAC and advanced to the semi-finals after defeating Lawrence Tech University, 1-0 in the opening-round. Lourdes then fell 2-0 to Madonna in the semi's, which was the first semi-finals appearance for the Gray Wolves, to conclude the post-season.
- The women's team has made an appearance in six WHAC tournaments with the 2022 team going the furthest. However, this season's marks the first that the Gray Wolves have hosted and the second advancing to the semi's.
