Final Results
After two weeks off, Lourdes returned to the courts on Friday afternoon, dropping a 7-0 decision to Indiana Tech inside Wildwood Racquet Club in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Indiana Tech (2-5, 2-1 WHAC) opened the contest by sweeping all three doubles matches. The Gray Wolves' top team of
Mallory Schardt (Temperance, Mich./Bedford H.S.) and
Olivia Schoppa (Gutersloh, Germany/Stadtisches Gymnasium Gutersloh) fell 6-1 as did the third doubles tandem of
Laura Ortiz (Bogota, Columbia/Gimnasio Los Pinos) and
Luciana Merediz (Lima, Peru/Colegio Nuestra Senora del Carmen). Lourdes number two team
of Bella Chela (Lusaka, Zambia/Pretoria H.S. for Girls and
Vanessa Skouroukos (Toledo, Ohio/Waite H.S.) dropped a 6-3 decision.
In singles action, Chela dropped her match 6-2, 6-1 at the top of the lineup while Schardt fell 6-1, 6-2 at the second spot. Schoppa fell 6-0, 6-2 at third singles while Ortiz, Skouroukos, and Merediz each suffered a 6-0, 6-0 setback at fourth through sixth singles respectively.
Lourdes (1-4, 1-3) will step out of WHAC play on Sunday afternoon to face John Carroll. The opening serve is set for 12:30 p.m. at Short Family Tennis Center in University Heights, Ohio.
