Final Results
Lourdes wrapped up the regular season on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 7-0 decision to Cornerstone inside at Sparrow Michigan Athletic Club in East Lansing, Mich.
The doubles point was closely contested despite the Golden Eagles winning all three contests. The Gray Wolf tandem of
Joshua Parish (Columbus, Ohio/Cristo Rey H.S.) and
Jaden Coley (Columbus, Ohio/Reynoldsburg H.S.) fell 6-4 at the top of the lineup while the third doubles squad of
Luis Guzman (Santo Domingo, D.R./Cranston East [R.I.] H.S.) and
Aryan Mittal (Ghaziabad, India/DPS Indirapuram) dropped their match by the same score. At second doubles,
Victor Dieltiens (Altea, Spain/Sint Eduardus [Belgium]) and
Alvaro Trillo-Sanchez (Madrid, Spain/Churchill County [Nev.] H.S.) lost in a tight 7-5 decision.
"We continue to show resilience in doubles play, which was our goal this season" head coach
Epifani Jones said afterwards. "The bottom of the lineup provides us good momentum heading into the playoffs."
Cornerstone (11-9, 5-1 WHAC) also swept the singles contests, but Trillo-Sanchez and Coley both took their singles contests to match tie-breaks. Trillo-Sanchez fell 0-6, 6-2, 10-5 at fifth singles while Coley dropped a 3-6, 6-3, 10-5 decision at the sixth spot. At first singles, Dieltiens fell 6-1, 6-4 while Mittal lost a 6-0, 6-2 decision at number three singles. Guzman suffered a 6-3, 6-0 setback at fourth singles while Parish retired trailing 4-1 in the first set at the second spot.
Lourdes (5-10, 2-4) will take part in the first round of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament on Monday, April 22. The league will announce official pairings later in the weekend.
