Final Results
Lourdes picked up one doubles victory on Saturday afternoon, but that would be all, as Lawrence Tech defeated the Gray Wolves 7-0 inside Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield, Mich.
The second doubles team of
Victor Dieltiens (Altea, Spain/Sint Eduardus [Belgium]) and
Theo Casadei (Annecy Le Vieux, France/CNED) posted a 6-4 triumph for the Gray Wolves. The other two doubles matches were close as well, but Lawrence Tech (4-3, 2-1 WHAC) pulled both out for the first point of the match. The Gray Wolves' team of
Joshua Parish (Columbus, Ohio/Cristo Rey H.S.) and
Jaden Coley (Columbus, Ohio/Reynoldsburg H.S.) fell 6-4 at the top of the lineup while
Alvaro Trillo-Sanchez (Madrid, Spain/Churchill County [Nev.] H.S.) and
Luis Guzman (Santo Domingo, D.R./Cranston East [R.I.] H.S.) fell 6-3 at the third spot.
"We are closing in on solid doubles solutions," head coach
Epifani Jones said afterwards. "In singles we're still competing like the young team that we are, but there are glimpses of solid improvement."
The Blue Devils would take all six singles contests in straight sets. Dieltiens fell 6-2, 6-1 at the top of the lineup while Parish dropped a 6-2, 6-0 match at the second spot.
Aryan Mittal (Ghaziabad, India/DPS Indirapuram) lost his third singles contest 6-2, 6-1 while Casadei fell 6-4, 6-1. Trillo-Sanchez lost a 6-3, 6-1 decision at fifth singles while Guzman rounded out the lineup with a 6-2, 7-5 setback.
Lourdes (5-8, 2-3) will wrap up the non-conference portion of its schedule next Saturday as the Gray Wolves travel to Marion, Ind. to face Indiana Wesleyan. Action begins at 1 p.m. at Sutter Tennis Center.
