Box Score SYLVANIA, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University women's soccer team (2-0-0) opened the 2024 home-opener at Willdcat Stadium with a 3-nil victory over Holy Cross College Saturday, Sept. 7. Head Coach
Jackie Phillip's (61-79-19) is 2-0 to start the season for the first time since the 2018 campaign.
Three different players netted goals in the win, as sophomore
Kayden Firsdon, along with freshmen
Payton Childers and
Alexia Ostrander each contributed to the victory.
Opening up the scoring was
Kayden Firsdon, who found the back of the net in the near-15
th minute to tally her second career goal and was assisted by junior
Zoey Trout, the third of her career.
Rookie
Payton Childers collected her first career goal in the second half with help from graduate student
Karlie Heilman, to give the Gray Wolves a 2-0 advantage over the Saints of Holy Cross.
A strike from freshman
Alexia Ostrander in the 85
th minute sealed the deal for Lourdes as the
Hollie Robinson-assisted goal boosted LU to its first home win of the season.
Defensively, senior
Emmy Rodger turned in another clean sheet with seven shots faced, saving two in each half of play.

- Head Coach Jackie Phillip's (61-79-19) is 2-0 to start the season for the first time since the 2018 campaign when she took wins over La Roche and Point Park College in consecutive games.
- The home opening win marked the fifth time in program history the team has opened a home season victorious. Additionally, it marks the third consecutive season in which the team won at home to start (2022-2024).
- In goal for the second time this season was senior Emmy Rodger, who turned in her 27th career clean sheet with the 3-0 victory. Additionally, her four saves boosted the senior over the 200 saves mark as she currently sits at 202 career saves.
- Karlie Heilman has assisted in consecutive matches, collecting just the third helper of her career. Before this season, the graduate student assisted on a single goal which came during the 2022 campaign.
- Scoring in their season debuts was rookie Alexia Ostrander, in her first career game, and sophomore Kayden Firsdon.
- The three goals mark the second consecutive time this season the Gray Wolves have scored multiple times in a single match. Last season, Lourdes accomplished the feat six times.
- Three freshman made an impact in the match, collecting at least one point each.
