MAUMEE, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) -- Lourdes University opened its spring men's tennis schedule with a 7-0 setback against the University of Northwestern Ohio on Tuesday at Shadow Valley Tennis Club. The contest was the first of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference schedule.Â
"With a challenging season upon us, I'm very proud of the men performing under multiple layers of pressure while standing in service to each other and leaning into Franciscan values," head coach Epifani Jones said.
In doubles play, the #1 team of Joshua Parish and Alvaro Trillo-Sanchez, along with the #2 pair of Luis Guzman and Robertson, both fell by 6-1 scores, securing the doubles point for UNOH.
In singles action, Parish played at the #1 spot and battled but lost 0-6, 3-6 against Maxim Smalto. Guzman competed at #2 singles and fell 6-7, 3-6 to Rodrigo Hernandez in a closely contested match. Trillo-Sanchez, in the #3 position, lost 0-6, 0-6 to Gabriel Arisio, while Robertson, playing #4 singles, dropped his match 0-6, 0-6 against Carlos Ramirez. The #5 and #6 singles matches were not played.
