ASHLAND, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University women's tennis team traveled to Ashland University on Thursday, where the Gray Wolves fell 7-0 in a non-conference matchup at the Deborah Liebert Karl Tennis Complex.
The Eagles claimed the doubles point with wins on all three courts, as Maria Jemio and Luciana Ottoni topped Mallory Schardt and Olivia Schoppa 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, while Anna Corbel and Evalienna Pryor defeated Vanessa Skouroukos and Laura Ortiz 6-0 at No. 2. Ashland completed the sweep with a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles, as Brittany Witsken and Alley Stoehr bested Winter Richburg and Luciana Merediz.
In singles action, Schardt put up a strong effort at the top spot before falling 6-0, 6-3 to Constanza Arancibia. Schoppa and Ortiz battled in their respective matches, with Schoppa dropping a 6-2, 6-3 decision to Jemio at No. 2 and Ortiz falling 6-2, 6-1 to Ottoni at No. 3. The Eagles controlled the bottom half of the lineup, with Corbel, Witsken, and Stoehr each winning in straight sets.
