Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball: After nine straight matches away from home to open the 2021 season, Lourdes returns to the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center on Wednesday evening to entertain Northwestern Ohio in a battle of teams seeking their first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference victories of the year.  The Gray Wolves remain home on Friday as well, entertaining Cornerstone.

Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his 12th season on the Lourdes bench, Greg Reitz has a 205-153 (.573) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  In his 14th season overall as a women's head coach, Reitz has a 225-188 (.545) career mark.  He is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history and was named WHAC Coach of the Year in 2015.

Series Notes: Northwestern Ohio holds a slim 10-9 series advantage against Lourdes dating back to Oct. 2, 2010.  The Gray Wolves swept both matches from the Racers last season though and have won three consecutive matches against Northwestern Ohio.  The series is even 2-2 inside the Ebeid Rec Center.  Cornerstone holds a 13-7 all-time series edge against the Gray Wolves dating back to Oct. 8, 2011.  The Golden Eagles have won five straight meetings between the two schools, winning both contests last season in four sets.  The series is tied 3-3 inside the Ebeid Rec Center.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes dropped a 25-15, 25-23, 25-13 decision at Siena Heights on Wednesday (Sept. 15).  Vanessa Villarreal and Abby Gentile each had eight kills for the Gray Wolves while Alli Plasencio tallied 15 digs.  On Friday (Sept. 17), Michigan-Dearborn downed Lourdes 25-22, 25-22, 23-25, 25-17.  Gentile paced the Gray Wolves with 15 kills while Plasencio added 25 digs.  The week wrapped up on Saturday (Sept. 18) as Lourdes fell 25-21, 25-14, 25-20 at Madonna.  Kylee McBride recorded 12 kills while Quinn Yondo registered a team-high 17 digs.

Scouting Northwestern Ohio: The Racers have dropped three straight matches after falling in straight sets at Cornerstone on Saturday (Sept. 18).  Logan Thomas leads Northwestern Ohio with 120 kills while Casey Kingsland has handed out 354 assists.  Taylor Reust has registered a team-leading 26 service aces.  Defensively, Aubree Ricketts has 177 digs while Hope Fetherolf has 23 blocks, including eight of the solo variety.

Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles enter the week having won four consecutive matches after sweeping Northwestern Ohio on Saturday (Sept. 18).  Cornerstone will host Concordia (Mich.) on Wednesday before visiting Lourdes.  Olivia Keelean leads the Golden Eagles with 172 kills and is hitting .203 while Aubrey Lenz has dished out 416 assists.  Rylie Walters leads the team with 24 aces.  On defense, Patsy Morris has tallied 270 digs while Kaylee Dykema has tallied 57 blocks.

Aquinas Match Postponed: Saturday's scheduled match against Aquinas inside the Ebeid Rec Center has been postponed.  The Gray Wolves and Saints will look to make the match up on a future date.

Producing as a Freshman: The Gray Wolf freshmen are making an impact this season.  Abby Gentile leads Lourdes with 61 kills this season as a rookie.  Katey Stakolich has handed out 119 assists, just seven shy of the team lead.

Sharing the Setting Duties: Lourdes has rotated setters throughout the year thus far, with Annika Devendorf, Katey Stakolich, and Alexis Walker all having the opportunity to run the Gray Wolf offense.

A Strong Serve: Lourdes has posted nearly a 1:1 service ratio of aces to errors thus far this year.  The Gray Wolves have 51 service aces, including 11 from Annika Devendorf, while making just 67 miscues.

Plasencio All Over the Record Books: Alli Plasencio enters the week ranked third in program history with 1,127 career digs.  She is 488 behind Angelica Dippold (2016-2019) for second all-time.  Plasencio also ranks eighth all-time with 76 service aces, needing two more to match Michi Jiminez (2012-2015) for seventh on the career charts.  Plasencio ranks seventh in school history having appeared in 304 sets all-time, nine behind Ali Mass' (2010-2013) sixth place total.  Plasencio is eighth with 83 matches played, two in back of Shannon Fischer (2015-2018) for seventh all-time at Lourdes.

Eisenhauer and Smith on the Blocking Lists: Michaela Eisenhauer ranks seventh all-time at Lourdes with 101 career blocks, needing 10 more to match Genessee Tate (2016-2017) for sixth all-time.  Cammy Smith has moved into a tie with graduate assistant coach Evan Matheson (2015-2018) for 10th with 87 career blocks.  Smith needs one more to match Keyonna Gregory's (2013-2014) ninth place total.

Second Longest Road Stretch to Start a Season: With the scheduled Sept. 4 home match against Spring Arbor cancelled, this has become the second longest stretch the Gray Wolves have played away from home to start the season in program history.  In 2012 Lourdes played its first 14 matches of the year away from home.

This and That: Lourdes' next WHAC victory will be its 100th in league play (99-63) ... Alli Plasencio is the only Gray Wolf to play all 34 sets this season ... Lourdes has had more kills than its opponents in five of the seven matches, but has hit a lower percentage in all seven contests this year.
