Lourdes University showed grit and flashes of offensive firepower on Wednesday evening, but Indiana Tech proved too steady, handing the Gray Wolves their first loss of the season in straight sets inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

Freshman middle blocker Iliana Karkabasis gave the Gray Wolves a lift in the third set with three consecutive service aces, sparking momentum and energizing the home crowd.

Senior outside hitter Rachel Allison continued her strong start to the year with timely kills, building on her performance in Saturday's five-set victory over Saint Xavier. Sophomore Aleya Baptiste also provided steady scoring, combining her attack with effective serving that has been a theme in Lourdes' early season success.

Setter Zoe Schuele distributed the offense and added a pair of service aces, marking the third consecutive match she has recorded points from the service line. Senior defensive specialist Emma Coffey anchored the back row, extending rallies and helping Lourdes withstand long stretches of Warrior pressure.

The Gray Wolves, who opened the season 2-0 with wins over Goshen and Saint Xavier, will now turn their attention to tournament play this weekend. Lourdes meets West Virginia Tech on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Fort Wayne, Ind., as part of the Liz Lykowski Memorial Tournament.
